"EMBRACING CHANGE" is a moment of emotional honesty. I wrote it in a space where hope felt more terrifying than despair. It’s about that uncomfortable in-between when you start to feel something shift inside you, but you're not sure if you're ready for what that shift could mean. It’s me admitting that I was becoming okay with giving up, and now I’m being asked to believe in possibility again. That duality of wanting to grow but fearing what comes with it is the heartbeat of this poem.
This poem came from a quiet war within myself. I’ve spent time building emotional armor, learning how to survive without depending on the world to be good to me. “EMBRACING CHANGE” is what it sounds like when that armor starts to crack not in a way that weakens me, but in a way that exposes something more human underneath. Change is uncomfortable. Growth feels lonely when you don’t see others moving with you. But even in that solitude, there’s power. Writing this was a way to hold space for the discomfort of healing because sometimes the scariest thing is not staying broken.
